Congrats to Zak and his Family and Friends

The second annual Car Smash fundraiser organized by the Phillips family raised funds for the ADA/Central Massachusetts Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes took place on Saturday September 21, 2013.  Many students and adults including West Boylston's School Committee Chair, took a swing at one of two cars and by the end of the day the cars were just about demolished.  Zak is hopeful that he can get credit for the end result this week by submitting photos of the cars for his Optional, Your Choice of Media and Theme Art Homework.   Hummmm...... may need to give that some thought!  Great job.

Making the scene at stART on the street

Current and former art students appreciated the artists and artworks at this great event in Worcester.  WB Art Department faculty member Lynne Pelto exhibited and sold her wheel thrown clay works with supportive husband by her side.  Spotted at the event by Mrs. Tetler were former WB art students Leo Carrasco, Matt Roberts, Aaron White and Libby Armstrong (well technically Libby did not take art but she was a musician.)

Current students attending StART of the Street including Dylan Taylor, Kelsey Book, Gabby Hammel, Chris Leavitt, and Alan Blunt showed that art is not just a course they take in school but also something that they appreciate in their free time.

Advanced Art Students refine their drawing skills in quick 1 1/2 hour color studies of natural objects.
The students are working on pacing themselves and on trying to create, not just accurate drawings, but also good compositions.

The students have individual challenges to respond to in their drawings.  These challenges were identified in previous drawings.

Heather worked on composition and combines two views of her gourd.

Morgan worked on increasing the amount of space that her object takes up on the page.

And finally, Julie worked on observing her object more carefully and trying to finish her drawing in one class period!
