Art 2 Homework for January and February 2015



Art Homework                       General Art 2                                    Part 1 2015                 
Your homework assignments carry the minimum expectation for you to spend one hour of time at home on these projects.  The assignments are designed to challenge your imagination and powers of visual observation.  The assignments should be turned in on paper that is a minimum of 9” x 12” and should never be folded.  It is required that these be in a bound sketchbook.  Because the homework is given out well in advance of the due date late work will not be accepted.  All of these assignments may be done in after school work sessions if you wish.

DUE by Wednesday January 28, 2015 – OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING
1.      Look outside at a tree that has lost its leaves.  Carefully draw the shape of the tree trunk.  Add the branches as accurately as you can.  Think of this as a botanical study.  We should be able to identify the tree from the formation of its branches. Fill the page.  Complete your work with shading in pencil or ink.  Use as many different values as you can.

DUE by Wednesday February 4, 2015 – OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING
2.      Draw one of the following items.  Fill up the entire page with your study.  Shade to show form and color.  Hammer, spatula, ladle, hand can opener, pliers, wrench.
            Use pencil or ink – no color.

DUE by Wednesday February 11, 2015 – OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING
3.      Open a cupboard in your kitchen or garage.  Draw what you see inside the cabinet. (shelves with items on them).  Try to shade to show the depth of the shelf and the form of the objects inside.  You may want to shine a light on the subject to make the shading more evident.  Use PENCIL only.

DUE by Wednesday February 25, 2015 (Honors must do homework)
Optional homework – you have the choice to not do this assignment!  If you elect to do it, you may select any type of art related project to complete.  You will be graded on your craftsmanship and the level of difficulty of the project.
